Sarah & George

Dublin Bay - Wānaka

There’s something special about summer weddings in Wānaka. Long golden evenings, calm lake waters, and mountains that seem to stretch forever—it’s a photographer’s dream, so it’s no surprise that Sarah and George chose Dublin Bay to hold their wedding celebration, and the setting couldn’t have suited them better. With their love for mountains, their zest for life and the fact they live just down the road, it was a no brainer!! They didn’t want anything too formal. Their whole idea was to gather their favourite people in one beautiful place and throw one hell of a party. And that’s exactly what they did. I don’t know who they had pulling some strings for them, but the weather gods delivered and the day was just PERFECT. Blue skies, the warmth of the summer sun and Lake Wānaka glistening behind them. The mountains framed everything in that classic Wānaka wedding way—breathtaking without needing any extras. Sarah and George kept things relaxed and heartfelt, making sure the focus stayed on the people around them. If there’s one moment guests will never forget, it’s their reception entrance. George garabbed two bottles of champagne, removed the corks and smashed the bases down on the marquee floor. Spray hit the ceiling and Sarah, along with the rest of the bridal party danced through the mist in to a cheering crowd of onlookers. The room erupted—it was loud, carnage, and completely them. After the laughter of the entrance, the evening slowed into some incredible speeches. Stories that had everyone wiping away tears, then laughing again a few moments later. It was the perfect reminder of why everyone had gathered in this incredible spot to celebrate with these two top notch humans. Later on, the dance floor turned into a whole new party. Sarah and George had set out a huge fancy dress box, soon wigs, sequins, and costumes were everywhere. Friends and family threw themselves into it, and the photos are full of movement, colour, and so much laughter. One thing Sarah and George were really excited about was having their day captured on both digital and 35mm film. There’s something about film that feels raw and timeless. Mixed with the crispness of digital, it gave them a gallery that feels both nostalgic and modern yet perfectly them. Their wedding at Dublin Bay was everything they’d hoped for: a big, love-filled party in one of the most stunning places in New Zealand. It had the perfect balance of heartfelt moments and complete chaos on the dance floor—and it all unfolded under that endless Wānaka summer sky.
